VWS Newsletter 2-23-07

2Greetings

I have a few important notes to pass on to the VWS community.

First of all, don’t forget to send your submissions for a post card for our upcoming show at the Green Mountain Gallery in Stowe, Vt. I’ve had a few submissions, but it would be nice to give them more of a variety of choices.

Here is a re-post of the information for that show:

GREEN MOUNTAINN GALLERY , STOWE, VT.

If you have questions do NOT call the gallery! Please contact me.

POSTCARD ENTRIES FOR THIS SHOW:

For those of you new to VWS- we usually supply the postcard image for these shows. You may submit ONE entry, to be juried by the gallery, for the postcard image. Here are the details:

Send a slide or 300 DPI 4” x 5” tiff, dmg or jpg on a CD to me starting in February. Deadline postmark is MARCH 3. Be sure to label your image with the title of your work and your name. If you want your slide or CD back, you MUST send a return envelope with your name and address and return postage affixed. Otherwise, your image will go into the VWS archives.

If your image has been on a postcard last year (2006) you must wait another year to submit a postcard entry.

OTHER NEWS:

Our Vice-President, Jan Olmstead has been working hard to create a questionnaire, which will be sent out to the membership on March 12. You will be able to fill this out online and email it directly back to Jan. It should be completed and sent back to Jan by March 19. (Members without email will receive a written copy in the mail).

This is a wonderful opportunity to have a say in the doings of VWS, and we are counting on all of you to let us know how you feel about your part in the Society and how you envision our future. It is in your hands, or should be. We will rely on your answers to help formulate future policies and directions for the tone and character of this Society. After the results are tallied there will be a discussion at the Spring meeting (probably in May), to further define your wishes and formulate a plan for the future. Thanks in advance for your co-operation.

MEMBERSHIP NEWS:

We continue to get new members and have also received dues from the majority of our ongoing members.

According to our diligent Treasurer, we now have 14 new members since the Annual Meeting, and we currently have a total of 102 paid members for 2007.

Please extend a warm welcome to:

Suzanne Clark from Essex Jct. Vt.
Grace Ellis from Lebanon. N.H.
Bea Jillette from Goshen, N.H.
Linda Turner from Underhill, Vt.

We are very glad to have you all with us!

OPPORTUNITIES:

While I have mentioned that I cannot announce individual show announcements, I will pass along opportunities for workshops and show entries as I receive them. I cannot promise, however, that I will remember them all since the last newsletter, so please pardon me if something you send is not included in this post.
