Our new mission statment

The VWS worked very hard during a recent planning session to develop a new "mission statement" for VWS. A mission statement is a written expression of the organization's purpose, closely aligned to its goals that is referred to as a source of guidance and motivation. So here it is:
"The Vermont Watercolor Society is dedicated to promoting the awareness and appreciation of watercolors to its membership at all levels of ability and to the community by providing opportunities and venues for participation, education, exhibitions and fellowship."
You're late! Please pay your dues!

Don't miss out on any of the exhibits, opportunities etc. within the VWS. Pay your dues of $35. We don't want to lose you, but as of January 31st you have drifted into "delinquent" status. Please send your check today to Lois Macuga, treasurer, PO Box 338, Quechee, VT 05059.
The VWS Spring Meeting at a new location

We have responded to your requests! The Spring meeting has a beautiful new location April 26th at the The Quechee Club in Quechee, VT. http://www.quecheeclub.com/index.shtml Annelein is planning to offer a mini seminar or two, an exhibit of members' work, a member demo and more. Stay tuned for more details. Just pencil in the date for now.
Workshops at the Landgrove Inn, Landgrove, VT

Our new sponsor, The Landgrove Inn at InView, their beautiful new workshop facility, has several workshops scheduled for 2009. Among these are: Judi Wagner, internationally-known watercolorist coming in early summer; Frank Francesse, a very popular watercolorist returning in the fall. And don't forget about the VWS-sponsored portrait workshop with Paul Leveille in October. Check the website for details on these workshops and more at: http://www.landgroveinn.com/
Celebrate Champlain with an "off the easel" auction

http://celebratechamplain.org/component/option,com_eventlist/Itemid,66/func,details/did,28/

The Vermont Watercolor Society is sponsoring an arts auction with proceeds to benefit the Lake Champlain Dragon Boat Festival, the Society and its participating artists, by hosting a day long "en plein air" on site paint-out. Artists will set up around the waterfront park capturing the natural beauty of Lake Champlain vistas on paper. The event will take place on Saturday August 15th from 10 - 4 with a live arts auction of the paintings created during the day following (location pending). If you're not comfortable painting in front of the public, you could put in a painting of the lake that you completed at an earlier time.
