VWS SURVEY andNEWS

Greetings once again. It is time for our VERY IMPORTANT VWS MEMBER
SURVEY. We’re looking for 100% participation!

Here’s the plan:

The survey will be open from Monday, March 12 at 6 AM to Monday March 19
at 6 PM.

Click on this link and you’re set to go:

http://questionweb.com/41899/

Thank you, everyone, in advance, for taking the time to do this. And a
special thanks to our Vice President , Jan Olmstead, for her generously
donated professional services. Rob O’Brien also spent a great deal of
time on this.

Behind the Scenes- What your fellow members are doing:

Vickie Herzberg has worked her magic on our database, organizing the
paintings files, getting them up to date and corrected. This is an
essential part of our database, and reflects everyone’s work shown since
2003 as well as the signature memberships. She will continue to update
these files as well as help us with the rest of the database. These
files are all kept on a computer database called FileMaker Pro, donated
and set up for us by Paul Highberg.

Jean Cannon has volunteered to scan a representational set of our
current slide collection and is putting them on CDs for future reference.

Everett Webber continues to keep our finances in order and updates all
the latest addresses, emails and new memberships.

Committees:

We had a joint Shows and Events committee meeting on March 4 at Judy
Laliberte’s house. Judy and her husband Ron graciously provided
delicious sustenance and a lovely environment for our meeting. Present were:

Jean Cannon
Cindy Crawford (me)
Janice Fleetwood-Bean
Judy Laliberte
Mary Fran Lloyd
Rob O’Brien
Elaine Reed
Sheryl Trainor
Everett Webber

Unable to come but interested parties were ;

Vickie Herzberg
Marijke Westberg
Tina Bielenberg

(Hmmm-funny… all “bergs”!!)

Our discussion centered around the considerable possibilities for VWS
open and juried shows for 2007-2009. Some venues will be yearly events,
some bi-annual and some one-time or recurring at longer intervals. We
are especially making an effort to have more open, inclusive shows to
encourage everyone to get their work seen. We also discussed a possible
small entry fee for shows- especially if we are to have more shows per
year.

We also discussed possible programs and events, particularly what will
occur at the Spring meeting. The date for that meeting will most likely
be May 20. We will discuss the survey results then, and a presentation
is in the works. We are also hoping to offer some sort of workshop for
VWS members, depending on your wishes via the survey and depending on
who might be potential presenters.

Each person at this meeting was focused on a particular aspect of the
workings of VWS so that no one person was overloaded with work. This is
something we all feel is critical- that volunteering for VWS can be as
short and simple as you like, or more involved if you are so inclined.
The ultimate goal is to distribute tasks in an equitable manner,
utilizing everyone’s best skills as needed. I was personally very
grateful to all who have been working behind the scenes to make this a
stellar organization.

One of the issues with our geographic diversity is that of communication
and contact. We are hoping to perhaps appoint volunteers to coordinate
and enhance regional communication, and perhaps organize local events.
It is also important to find your fellow members for such purposes as
car-pooling. For instance- getting your paintings to the next show,
attending the opening and picking up un-sold works. With this in mind, I
am giving you all access to a a current membership list. Be advised,
there may be a few omissions and errors, but hopefully, this list will
help you find neighbors to co-ordinate with. Please note: This is NOT a
PUBLIC MAILING LIST. It is for internal use only. Do not send your
announcements or any other information to anyone on this list unless
they have specifically asked you to. We DO need an announcement board.
We’re working on it.
Please send me any corrections. If you are on this list and haven’t paid
your dues, please do so now. Your name will be removed in one month. If
you are NOT on this list and have paid your dues, let me know. And, by
the way, people without email will be getting this letter, the list, and
a copy of the survey.

Here’s the web site where you can see the roster. It will be available
for one month.
