VWS NEWS 3/10/08

Greetings!

We are going to publish a new VWS Newsletter to be mailed to you. Diane Bell is our new Director of Communications and is working diligently on putting this together, and doing a fine job. Thank you Diane. Here’s a letter from her to you, our members:

Dear VWS members,

The VWS Board of Directors had their first meeting recently and as communications director, I have been given the task of putting together a formal newsletter. We are excited to present it to you next month and quarterly thereafter. It will have pertinent information about shows --requirements, deadlines, etc.-- website news, new members, annual meetings, and more uniform look and feel. Look for it in your U.S. Mail as well as on the website.

I'd like to hear from YOU though, with information about your regional art happenings, like workshops (you're teaching or attending) or education opps, painting groups you've formed, art awards you've received, upcoming one-man exhibits etc. No promises that your information will always get in as there could be space issues, but I'll do my best.
Please send any contributions to me via email a.s.a.p. -- this week if possible.

Thanks so much for your contributions in advance.

MORE NOTES FROM THE BOARD:

All are hard at work in their various capacities:
Rob O’Brien has gone around the bend into 2009 getting shows for us, and we will have had 6 shows by the end of this year. Please show your support by entering shows, following guidelines, and attending openings, even if you’re not in the show. Thank you!
Annelein Beukenkamp is doing a marvelous job planning the Spring Meeting and conjuring up more exciting events for you to attend. She has also helped secure a venue for 2009.
Karen Casper is diligently crunching numbers and pondering membership demographics, while Jan Olmstead is working with member Gary Eckhart doing a phone survey to find out more about what you, the membership want in terms of Regional Association.
Everett Webber is poring over the By-laws language to make sense out of it’s rather antiquated format. He is also keeping records and sending out notices to truant members. Don’t let it happen to you!! Adrienne Fisk is helping me think through things I get boggled down on and working up the minutes to present to you at the Spring Meeting. Member Vickie Herzberg keeps our file system running and tracks show entries and signature memberships. A huge thank-you to all of you.

Oh, yes, me? Just loafing in the snow banks here- I can climb out of a first floor window directly onto an impressive pile that slid off the roof….
