VWS News 3/11/08

VWS News 3-11-08

Greetings everyone. VWS is blossoming this year (even if the flowers aren’t yet…). We have 6 shows scheduled and some exciting events upcoming. I’m also very pleased to report that we had our first Board of Directors meeting a few weeks ago, and it was exciting to be working with a dynamic, enthusiastic team that is ready to accomplish much that has needed doing for VWS. You will hear a lot more about this as well as some direct communications from Board members. For example, Diane Bell is taking on a new newsletter to be published and sent out in the (regular postal) mail. You will be asked to make contributions at some point. Annelein Beukenkamp has tackled the Spring meeting, which will be announced in full shortly. And much more. Stay tuned.

OTHER BUSINESS: DUES
Most of you have paid up for this year. You must be a current member to enter OUR VWS shows.
As stated in our by-laws, you will become “inactive” if you have not paid current dues by March 31:

An Inactive or a former member may be reinstated by paying current dues.
Signature status, however, will be lost after one year’s absence from paying dues, and the returning member reverts to an Associate membership until she or he reestablishes Signature membership as stated in ARTICLE III[1].

Members may submit their intention to resign from the VWS by writing to the Treasurer (everett.h.webber@valley.net)
New members are eligible to participate in any events or exhibits as soon as dues are paid.
In the case of undue hardship, the Board may vote to allow a former Signature Member to retain her/his signature status when rejoining.

Nonmembers are welcome at the spring and fall VWS meetings, and at workshops and similar events designated as “open to the public”.

EMAIL NEWSLETTERS:

I am aware that some of you are still not getting these newsletters. If you know someone who is not getting them, please ask them to notify me. However, sometimes the mailings end up in your junk mail-probably because they are a bulk mailing. I have no control over that. Sometimes you can tell your mail program to accept communications titled “VWS”. In other cases, please be sure email addresses are current. If your email changes, please notify Everett Webber (address above). And finally, check the web site frequently for these letters.
