Upcoming Workshops

From Annette Compton:

Spring classes at Compton Art at 29 Central Street in Woodstock, VT (over Footprints) will start up next week. I'll be teaching Textures and Techniques on Tuesday Nights by popular demand. We have five in that class already but room for one or two more if you're interested. Go to www.comptonart.net for details.

Also a NEW CLASS titled "Abstration and Imagination". Here's the synopsis:

Abstraction and Imagination
9:00 AM to Noon starting Wednesday, March 29, 2006
$280 per person, 8 sessions through May 17

While your friends are travelling, take the spring to go on a trip into your imagination. A new class, without specific homework, will focus your drawing and painting into the realm of abstraction. How do you take reality and alter it slightly to come up with expressive paintings? How can you see the world in a new way? This thoughtful approach has been touched on in Compton's book, Drawing from the Mind, Painting from the Heart but now you can take your paintings to a new level. We will move into imaginative perspectives and fantastical color realms to convey interpretive pieces around basic elements of landscape, still life and figurative word. Perfect for those studying Cezanne for the Vermont Watercolor Society Show in May. Exciting for those of you who want to explore whimsical images. Bring paints, paper and your open mind to the first class. Some weeks will include pen & ink, aquarelle pencils and collage as well as off-beat watercolor techniques.

Hope to see you here at the studio this spring.

And from Outside the VWS

Hello,
My name is Becky Haletky and I am a member of New England Watercolor Society. I have been painting in watercolor for 25
years and teaching for 15 years.
This summer I am teaching a workshop in County Mayo, Ireland from August 10 through the 20th. The group, limited to 10, stays at a private home in Westport and our Irish guide takes us by van to amazing painting locations. You can look at my web site www.artbecko.com for more details.
I am trying to get the word out to as many watercolor artists as I can, and would greatly appreciate it if you could forward this
email to your members or students, or announce the trip in your newsletter.
Thank you very much,
Becky
